What is FEYI ARCHIVE?
FEYI ARCHIVE is a heritage home décor brand preserving rare human-centered craft traditions through collectible objects for the modern home. Our first collection begins with Liuli ceramics.
What is Liuli ceramic?
Liuli ceramics are glazed ceramic objects shaped from clay, mineral glaze, and fire. They are different from Liuli glass or crystal art. Historically, this craft was used in architectural roof tiles, ridge beasts, and decorative ceramic ornaments.
Are your pieces handmade?
Yes. Each piece is shaped, refined, glazed, and fired through a careful craft process. Small variations in glaze, texture, and finish are part of the character of the work.
Why do pieces look slightly different from each other?
Because the glaze is fired, not painted. Natural variation in color, crackle, surface depth, and finish can appear from one firing to another. This is part of what makes each piece individual.
Why are there crackles on my piece?
The crackles are a natural part of the Liuli ceramic firing process. As each piece cools after leaving the kiln, the glaze and clay body contract at different rates, creating fine crackle patterns across the surface. Rather than a flaw, they are a mark of fired ceramic character and handcraft.
Are these functional objects?
Our pieces are intended as decorative objects only. They are made for shelves, tables, consoles, mantels, and display spaces. They are not intended for food contact unless specifically stated.
